Spa & Wellbeing Breaks in North Cyprus (Part II)
Spa & wellbeing breaks in North Cyprus (part II)
With its scenic beauty, cultural charm and tranquil way of life, Northern Cyprus is the perfect sun-kissed getaway to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life back home. And having already reviewed in Part I of our “Spa & Wellbeing” blog some of the best luxury spa resorts in and around Kyrenia, in Part II we look at a four-star option to indulge in without the five-star price tag; a fabulous place to be pampered in Famagusta; and for those seeking something completely different we’ve thrown in an eco-retreat wild card.
The Oscar Resort
The Oscar is a fantastic four-star option offering value-for-money pampering. The resort is just a shuttle ride from Kyrenia and sits on its own private beach. With three freshwater outdoor pools, an outside jacuzzi and indoor pool the bather is certainly spoilt for choice. And the spa guest will not be disappointed either.
The Spa & Wellness Centre offers a private jacuzzi, turkish bath, sauna, cold plunge pool, steam bath and relaxation area. But it is perhaps the extensive range of massage, beauty and skincare treatments that will leave you feeling truly spoilt – from traditional Ottoman and Hammam therapy to a tropical haven body scrub, you can while away the hours being rubbed and scrubbed to perfection.
It sounds so pamper-tastic we feel better just reading about it, although the service on offer “cannot be measured, only experienced” ( See: www.oscar-resort.com). The guest reviews are testament to this and even without a five star rating, the Oscar gets a very respectable 4 out of 5 from Trip Advisor and a 7.5 out of 10 from Holiday Watchdog.
Salamis Bay Conti Resort & Hotel
If you are looking for a pampering retreat away from Kyrenia, this fabulous five star beachfront resort in Famagusta boasts its own Spa & Wellness Centre.
Guests have free use of an indoor pool and supersized outdoor pool, a fitness room, turkish bath and a unique sauna with superb sea view. The hotel also offers full body massage, body wraps, facials, peels and a host of other spa and beauty treatments for the mind and body – “a haven for ultimate relaxation and body rejuvenation set in a tranquil atmosphere” (See: www.salamisbay-conti.com).
During the evenings there is in-house entertainment and the customary casino if you’re feeling lucky. If you want to explore outside the resort transport is a must although car hire is cheap. Trip Advisor and Travel Pod rate the Salamis Conti at a respectable 3.5 out of 5, whilst Travel Republic describes it as a “very good” 7.5 out of 10.
Being rubbed and scrubbed and smothered in rich scented oils is not the only way to feel revitalised. A wholesome experience that embraces other elements of wellbeing may be just what the doctor ordered. And the ancient Karpas settlement of Büyükkonuk Eco-Village offers the wellbeing experience of a lifetime.
Staying in local and very comfortable accommodation, you can immerse yourself in the tranquility of the traditional and rural lifestyle here. Walk with shepherds behind their flocks; try your hand at milking a goat; collect eggs fresh from the nest for breakfast; fire a large village oven to bake sesame covered breads; fill a basket with olives from the groves; ramble across the breathtaking landscape of nearby fields, valleys and forests; or soak up the warmth of the wonderful locals at the village festivals.
Without a masseuse or manicurist for miles around, you will still feel wonderfully refreshed after a break at Büyükkonuk (See: www.ecotourismcyprus.org or www.ecotourismcyprus.com). The reviews for this pioneer village for eco-tourism are inspiring.
So with such fantastic options across the North for both spa and wellbeing breaks, we hope you pamper pusses and eco warriors have stopped your search for a rejuvenating retreat right here… with the wonderful wellbeing of North Cyprus.
