Ozge Bengüsu is originally from Famagusta here in the TRNC. She attended Eastern Mediterranean University and graduated in 2004 with a LLB HONS after which she completed an internship with a prestigious firm in Nicosia. During this time she passed her bar exams and became a member of the law society in 2005. She later attended Utrecht University in Holland and graduated with an LLM in International and European Protection of Human Rights. She has also gained experience from a second internship in a well known Non Governmental Organisation in the Hague after which she returned to Cyprus and has spent a further two years practicing law in firms in Nicosia and Kyrenia. Ozge is also currently a PHD candidate in International Criminal Law.

Munir Akil Law Office

Munir Akil’s legal history commenced when he was called to the Bar in 1972 in the U.K as Head of Chambers and as a Barrister at Law. He has been registered as an advocate in the Republic of Cyprus and Northern Cyprus since 1973 and is currently the only lawyer in North Cyprus entitled to practice law in both the U.K. and the TRNC.
Between 1981 and 1990, when he was registered with the Bar in the TRNC, he was also appointed district court judge and later senior district court judge. Between 1990 and 1992 he was enrolled at the Bar in U.K where he practised at a chambers in London as a barrister and then from 1991-1992 Mr Akil worked for The Crown Prosecution Office in North London.
His law company has chambers in Kyrenia in Northern Cyprus and currently employs 2 further highly qualified and experienced lawyers both with an excellent command of the English language.
Since his return to TRNC at the end of 1992, Munir Akil’s office has flourished and is highly qualified in Civil Cases, company law, Trademark, patents and copyrights. Naomi Mehmet LL.B. (Hons) – Advocate
Naomi was born and grew up in North London. She studied Law at University College London (UCL), graduating in 2001. She then went on to complete the Legal Practice Course at the College of Law in London, passing her exams with distinction. With the aim of expanding her legal knowledge and improving her language skills, Naomi then took up a job working in the legal department of a prestigious offshore trusts company based in Liechtenstein. In 2003, Naomi, moved to Northern Cyprus where she gained employment in a large law firm in Kyrenia. This enabled her to gain invaluable experience of the legal system of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (T.R.N.C). Naomi was called to the T.R.N.C bar in 2005. Debra Dolling F.Inst.L.Ex – Legal Adviser
Debra was born and grew up in England and moved to Northern Cyprus with her family in 2007. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives and a Commissioner for Oaths having qualified in the United Kingdom. A Legal Executive is legally trained and must have completed at least 8 years of employment with a solicitor and must have passed the Institute’s qualifying examinations. These examinations lay particular emphasis upon the practical as well as academic aspects of legal work, and the final fellowship examinations are recognised by the English Law Society as earning exemptions from equivalent papers in the qualifying examinations for solicitors. Debra has twenty years of experience in Property Law, Conveyancing, Probate and Succession and Will writing.

Av. Sıla Miroğlu B.A. M.A. – Advocate
Sila is of Turkish Cypriot origin. She graduated in 2003 with a bachelor degree in Law from the University of Marmara, Turkey, and then went on to complete her Masters degree in Law specialising in Patent Law. Sıla completed her practical training in Istanbul and was called to the Istanbul Bar where she is still a registered member. She then worked for a period of two years with a well known law firm in Istanbul before returning to her native Cyprus and commencing work with a local firm in Kyrenia. In 2005 she was called to the TRNC bar. Sıla joined Naomi Mehmet & Partners in 2008 to head their Litigation and Dispute Resolutions Department. Sıla has extensive experience in all kinds of litigation cases, including banking and debt claims, property related disputes and family matters and she speaks Turkish and English.

Aksana Vitushka LL.B. LL.M. – Legal Adviser
Aksana graduated in 2004 from the Belarusian State Economic University with a degree in Law, obtaining the highest grades in all of her examinations. She worked for some time as a junior lawyer with the firm of Jurist Consult in Minsk, Belarus. She then completed her internship at the High Court of Minsk, Belarus before spending some time working as a Research Assistant at the Ministry of Justice in Belarus. Finally, she went on to complete her Masters degree in law (LL.M.) at the Girne American University in Cyprus graduating in 2007. Aksana provides legal advice and assistance in property related matters. Aksana is fluent in Russian, Belorussian, English and Turkish.
